Penang Heritage CNY [ 1-FEB-2009 ] + view blog details + |
Just like every year, the Penang government had organized a Heritage event in conjunction to the Chinese New Year. This is the time of the year where several roads in Georgetown will be closed and people will be walking around watching cultural performances and also experience with their own eyes the heritage buildings of Penang. So without fail, my friends and myself had joined in this event for a little photo shoot. There were endless performances going on round the clock. It includes lion dance, ching gay performance, chinese drum performances and also Chinese folklore stage shows just to name a few.

In this event, the many temples located around the town area will be opened to the public for visiting and one of the famous temples would be the Khoo Kongsi. At night time, these temples will be lightened up with colorful lightings and it's a rare sight as we don't get to see this often

I was there around 5.30pm and left around 11pm. As the day gets darker, the crowd became larger and it's really hard to move around with my camera bag and also tripod. Scary crowd.... Considering the large crowd, I didn't snap much pictures during the night time as space was a constraint even for me to setup my tripod and even if I was able to set it up, there's no guarantee that I can get a clean shot But anyway, I had snapped a picture the Khoo Kongsi during the night time.

For those of you who had missed the chance this year, worry not and wait for next year Here's a group picture of my friends and myself who had participated in this event.
